JUDGMENT

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by D.KRISHNAKUMAR, J.) This Writ Appeal is filed against the order of the learned Single Judge in WP No.33711 of 2022 dated 01.03.2023.

The appellant/writ petitioner has filed the writ petition challenging the revised provisional rank list published on 28.10.2022 by the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Undergraduate Admission 20222023 under sports quota (girls) and the consequential selection list dated 29.10.2022 of the said University. The appellant/petitioner has also sought for a direction to the third respondent University to award marks to the appellant/petitioner for the certificates, which she obtained by participating in the Silambam events and admit her according to the sports rank.

3. The writ court had gone into the facts of the case and dismissed the writ petition on the ground that the Tamil Nadu Silambam Association is not 3/7

recognized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, during admission to the course of B.V.C. undergraduate course, for the academic year 2022-2023, under the sports quota. Challenging the said order, the appellant/petitioner has filed the present intra-court appeal.

Learned counsel for the appellant has disputed the fact that no recognition was granted to the Tamil Nadu Silambam Association, in which the appellant herein has participated in several events and got certificates for such participation but however those certificates were not considered by the authority for the simple reason that the said Silambam Association is not a recognized one. Hence, he seeks to allow the writ appeal.

5. On a perusal of the records, it is seen that the admission of the appellant is for the academic year 2022-2023 and the aforesaid period of 2022-2023 is now over. Therefore, at this juncture, the prayer, as sought for to admit the appellant in the B.V.C course for the subsequent academic year, is not possible as the prayer as sought for by the appellant has now become infrucuous. Hence, the writ appeal is dismissed as infructuous. There shall 4/7

be no order as to costs.

6. We are not deciding on merit whether the Tamil Nadu Silambam Association is recognized by the competent authority or not, since the writ appeal is dismissed as having become infructuous.
