ORDER

The petitioner, who apprehends arrest for the alleged offence under Sections 2(1), 2(16) (a,b,c), 3(35), 9, 39(1)(a)(d), 50(1), 51, 51(1-A) of Wild Life Protection Act, in WL.O.R.No.1 of 2026, on the file of the respondent police seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for the respondent would strongly oppose the anticipatory bail application on the ground that the petitioner has dealt with hunting of endangered species and also involved in illegal hunting of wild animals, namely, monitor lizard and Indian hare using a country-made gun.

3. Though the learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the coaccused released on bail, this Court is of the firm view that the submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) that the custodial interrogation of the petitioner is required, to know about the other involved in the crime, is justified. Such submission cannot be found fault with and apart from that, the petitioner has dealt with the endangered species which also have to be viewed seriously. Hence, this Court is of the view that the petitioner does not deserve anticipatory bail.

4. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. 06.04.2026 dna
