ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking for a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent to consider the representation and issue the death 1/4

certificate and consequently, to direct the respondent to register the death certificate to the petitioner's mother.

2. The case of the petitioner is that, his mother died at the Royapettah Government Hospital, Chennai on 10.01.1980. When the petitioner approached the Hospital to get death certificate of his mother, the Hospital authorities has informed that there is no document available in respect of the death of the petitioner's mother in their hospital. Therefore, the petitioner has made an application before the respondent on 26.10.2022. However, death certificate was not issued to the petitioner. Hence, the above writ petition has been filed before this Court for appropriate directions.

The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent submitted that, on 27.06.2023, this Court, had issued a direction to the Revenue Divisional Officer (South) to issue the death certificate of the petitioner's mother on or before 30.06.2023. Pursuant to which, Revenue Divisional Officer (South) appeared before this Court and submitted that he has already given instructions to the Health Officer, 2/4

Greater Chennai Corporation for issuance of death certificate. Hence, the learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that, this Court may issue a direction to the petitioner to approach the Health Officer, Greater Chennai Corporation, Rippon Building, Chennai, to collect the death certificate of his mother.

4. Recording the above submissions, this Court, directs the petitioner to appear before the Health Officer attached to the Greater Chennai Corporation, Rippon Building, Chennai and obtain the death certificate of his mother.

5. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
