ORDER

Heard Mr.B.Balaji, for the petitioner, Mr.P.Harish, learned counsel, for R1 and Ms.N.S.Tanvi, learned counsel, for R2 / Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. No notice is issued to R3 at this juncture.

2. The prayer of the petitioner is for a mandamus directing respondents to consider representation dated 01.04.2024 for appointment of an appropriate authority at National and International level for selection of Gymnasts for the Khelo India Sports Meet.

3. The Khelo India Sports Meet has already been taken place in the month of January, 2024 at Chennai. The petitioner was not selected as he did not satisfy the requirement of having won a national sports meet. In light of the aforesaid, there is no merit in his prayer seeking constitution of a selection committee for sports meet that has already taken place several months ago.

4. The only question that remains is as regard as the selection procedures for National sports meets, in general, which issue has already been taken note of by this Court in the case of S.Nithya v The Secretary to the Union of India, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Room No.401, C-Wing Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi [W.P.No.3447 of 2019 dated 19.01.2022].

5. Learned counsel for R2 would state that the directions issued in 2/4

the above case have been taken note of by the respondents and a draft of the Sports Act has been prepared, which is under process of finalization.

6. Recording this, and as nothing further arises for consideration in this writ petition, writ petition is closed.
