Respondent Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to cancel the marriage registration certificate dated 12.01.2009 vide document No.16/2009 on the file of the Marriage Registrar, Royapuram, Chennai 600013 in the light of the judgment and decree passed in OS.No.167/2009 by the learned II Additional Family Judge, Chennai. ORDER

By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal. 2.The petitioner would state that she filed a suit in OS.No.16/2009 on the file of the II Additional Family Court, Chennai, praying for declaration that the alleged marriage registered between her and one K.Tamilarasan, son of Kumar, No.48, Venkatachalam Street, Ashok Nagar, Chennai 600083, is null and void on the ground that the no marriage was solemnised between her and the said person on 12.01.2009 which was registered on the file of the Registrar of Marriages, Royapuram, Chennai-13 vide Document No.16/2009 on 12.01.2009. The petitioner would further state that though notice was served on the defendant Tamilarasan, he did not appear and an exparte decree came to be passed on 30.06.2010, declaring the marriage between her and the said Tamilarasan as null and void.

Thereafter, the petitioner has submitted a representation on 18.06.2015 praying for cancellation of the Marriage Registration Certificate bearing No.16/2009 and though it was acknowledged, she is yet to be favoured with any response and hence, she came forward to filed this writ petition.

3.Heard the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.Pattabiraman, learned Government Advocate who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

4.Though the petitioner has sought for a larger relief, this Court, in the light of the facts and circumstances, directs the respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 18.06.2015 in accordance with law and pass orders within period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.The Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly.
