O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation made by the petitioner dated 16.05.2019 and to effect necessary changes in the Revenue Records.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the subject property

originally belonged to the mother of the petitioner and thereafter the petitioner became the absolute owner of the property. The petitioner found that a mistake has been committed in the Revenue Records, whereby instead of the name of Rajakumari, the name of one Arumugapillai was entered at the time of undertaking the UDR. The petitioner made several representations to the respondents to correct the Revenue Records and restore it in the name of Tmt.Rajakumari. Since the representations were not acted upon by the respondents, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court for appropriate direction.

3. Heard Mr.M.Krishnamurthy, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.N.Parthasarthy, learned Special Government Pleader, for the respondents.

4. A careful reading of the records that have been furnished by the petitioner shows that the mistake has occurred at the time of carrying out UDR process and therefore the mistake can be corrected only by the first respondent viz., the District Revenue Officer. It is also seen from the records that the petitioner had sent a representation on 16.05.2019 to the District Revenue Officer requesting for the rectification of the UDR records and to incorporate the correct name.

5. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the limited relief sought for in this writ petition, there shall be a direction to the first respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 16.05.2019 and deal with the same strictly in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of the receipt of a copy of this order. If the first respondent finds that notice should be issued to any other interested party, the same shall be done before conducting enquiry and passing final orders. The petitioner is directed to make a fresh representation to the first respondent along with a copy of the representation dated 16.05.2019 and a copy of the other relevant documents and also a copy of this order.
