..Respondent(s) PRAYER: This criminal original petition filed under section 528 of Bharathiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to direct the 2nd respondent police not to harass the petitioner under the guise of enquiry in connection with the alleged complaint relating to the vehicle bearing Registration No.TN-74-AB-1197 and to conduct enquiry strictly in accordance with law, and pass such further or other orders as this Hon'ble Court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of the case and thus render justice.

ORDER
The criminal original petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent police not to harass the petitioner under the guise of enquiry in connection with the alleged complaint relating to the vehicle bearing Registration No.TN-74AB-1197. 2.The contention of the petitioner is that the respondent police in the guise of enquiry has been harassing him by calling odd hours. 3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor opposed the petitioners' contention and submitted that Ramakrishnan, RTO Thiruvallur had given a complaint stating that there are two cars with same registration and chassis number. One car has been produced by the Sandhiya and she was enquired and confirmed that she had purchased the case from the petitioner Saravanan. Hence, CSR.No.307 of 2026 assigned on 04.03.2026.
The other case produced by Sathish was originally in the name of Kesavapillai, who had sold the vehicle to him. The petitioner's stand is that it was a secondhand car and he had not made any correction. He has not tampered with the vehicle registration number or chassis number. Further, he submitted that now RTO has given a report. For the purpose of enquiry, petitioner was called and he has also participated in the enquiry.
4.In view of the above, the petitioner can be called and more so, when the complaint is from RTO with regard to tampering and forgery of the vehicle and chassis number. The petitioner is directed to appear before the respondent police on 27.04.2026 and the respondent police is directed to decide the CSR without any further delay. If any tampering and tinkering of the chassis Engine Number is found, appropriate case to be registered, since both the vehicles have also to be hypothecated to the bank.
5.In view of the above direction, the criminal original petition is disposed of.
