ORDER : The Court Made the following order :- The petitioner apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the alleged offence punishable under Sections 120B, 420, 408, 465, 467, 468, 471 IPC, in Crime No.2351 of 2022, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner was working as an Appraiser in Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank, Ayapakkam. The accused 1 to 4 had pledged 1666 grams of spurious jewels with the said bank and availed loan to the tune of Rs.32 Lakhs. The petitioner is being arrayed as A5, as he is the Appraiser of jewels and acted in favour of the accused 1 to 4.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he is no way connected with the alleged offence. He would further submit that the petitioner has been falsely implicated in this case. Hence he prays to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submits that the petitioner having colluded with other accused, has cheated the public funds and caused huge loss to the defacto complainant-bank and hence, he vehemently opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

5. Taking into consideration the allegations and the petitioner being a jewel Appraiser connived with the other accused persons and cheated the huge amount of general public, this Court is of the view that the custodial interrogation of the petitioner is required in this case. Therefore, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail.
