This writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus, directing the respondent to decide the application of the petitioner dated 27.3.2017 for the conferment of minority status on the Agurchand Manmull Jain School, Meenambakkam, Chennai - 600 114.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has submitted an application dated 27.3.2017, seeking conferment of minority status on Agurchand Manmull Jain School, Meenambakkam,Chennai-600 114 and the said representation has not been considered so far.

3. Heard both sides and perused the records.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 27.3.2017, seeking conferment of minority status on the school in question and pass appropriate orders,on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
