PETITION under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent to upload the death certificate of the petitioner's father K.Misrilal Challani on the website of Greater Chennai Corporation by considering and disposing his representation dated 11.7.2025.

ORDER

This is a petition filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the respondent to consider his representation dated 11.7.2025 to upload the death certificate of his father one Mr.K.Misrilal Challani in the website of Greater Chennai Corporation.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Pleader accepting notice for the respondent.

3. The case of the petitioner is as follows:

The petitioner's father died on 29.5.2012 and a death report was was issued even on the same day when the cremation was done. Further, Form No.4A was also issued by the doctor concerned at the Greater Chennai Corporation, Health Department. Though the petitioner sent a representation dated 11.7.2025 to the respondent to upload the death certificate of his father in the website, it did not evoke any response.

Having no other option, the petitioner is before this Court.

4. The petitioner's father died on 29.5.2012 and till today, the petitioner is struggling to get his death certificate. Hence, this Court is of the considered view that suitable direction should be issued to the respondent for uploading the death certificate.

Considering the limited nature of the relief sought for and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to send a fresh representation to the respondent within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of such a representation, the respondent shall consider the same on merits, pass appropriate orders in accordance with law and upload the death certificate of his father - Mr.K.Misrilal Challani in terms of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 within a period of two weeks thereafter. No costs. 07-04-2026
