Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuing a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the Petitioner's Application No.500168 and Registration No.11111057 pertaining to the B.Arch., Degree Course, 2017-2018 for admission as per the G.O. (D) No.242 dated 18-07-2017 passed by the 1st Respondent under the category of Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture 2017 (TANATA 2017) by considering the Petitioner's representation dated 03-09-2017.

O R D E R

The petitioner who passed the Higher Secondary Course in May 2017 having obtained 1094 marks, applied to the 2nd respondent for Bachelor of Architecture Course.

He wrote TANATA Examination in the year 2017 conducted by the Anna University and cleared the TANATA examination with 103 marks and got 68th rank for the Academic year 2017-2018.

After the publication of the results of TANATA examination, the counselling was conducted and on 19.08.2017, the Anna University had surrendered the management quota seats as well as Government quota seats to the concerned management after counselling.

Aggrieved over non-selection of the petitioner in the counselling, the petitioner gave a representation on 03.09.2017. But, no order has been passed by the 2nd respondent. Therefore, the petitioner sought for a direction to the respondents to consider the Petitioner's Application No.500168 and Registration No.11111057 pertaining to the B.Arch., Degree Course, 2017-2018 for admission as per the G.O.(D) No.242 dated 18-07-2017 passed by the 1st respondent under the category of Tamil Nadu Aptitude Test in Architecture 2017 (TANATA 2017) by considering the Petitioner's representation dated 03-09-2017.

3.Heard, Mr.S.L.Sudarsanam, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner; Mr.T.M.Pappiah, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the first respondent; Mr.M.Vijayakumar, learned Standing counsel appearing for the respondents 2, 3 and 4.

4.Though many contentions have been made regarding the counselling and the application of G.O. Ms. No.52, dated 18.03.2003 and G.O. Ms. No.242, dated 18.07.2017 and the time limit for admission of students into Engineering Colleges, the learned counsel for the petitioner confines his argument only with regard to disposal of the representation given by the petitioner. Taking into consideration the +2 marks obtained by the petitioner who is also qualified in TANATA with 68th rank, the 2nd respondent is directed to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 03.09.2017 on merits, within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. No costs.
