ORDER
This writ petition has been filed challenging the order passed by the second respondent dated 15.03.2025, thereby rejecting the request made by the petitioner for protest demonstration. 2.
It is seen that the petitioner submitted representation seeking permission to conduct protest as against the change of name of the road at VOC Nagar junction as Thanthai Periyar Square instead of Hosur Muneeswar Nagar Circle, on 21.01.2023 and the same was rejected by the second respondent by the impugned order.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondents submitted that only as per the government order in G.O.(U)No.495 Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department dated 22.08.2023, the name of the Hosur internal road and VOC Nagar Junction has been changed as Thanthai Periyar Square.

Considering the above submissions, the petitioner ought to have challenge the above government order in the manner known to law. Without challenging the said government order, mere conducting protest would not serve any purpose. The petitioner is being a resident of the said area, he made the application seeking permission to protest. Therefore, the request made by the petitioner was rightly rejected by the second respondent and this Court finds no infirmity or illegality in the order passed by the second respondent. However, the petitioner is at liberty to challenge the government in G.O.(U)No.495 Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department dated 22.08.2023, if so advised. 5.
Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
