This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to act upon the representation made by the petitioner on 09.12.2024 wherein the petitioner is seeking for reclassification of the subject property from Anadheenam to private land.
2. Heard Mr.G.Magesh Kumar, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr.M.R.Gokulkrishnan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for respondent.
3. In the considered view of this Court, such re-classification can be done only by the District Collector in consultation with the Commissioner of Land Administration. The respondent does not have any such power. Therefore, it is left open to the petitioner to submit a fresh representation to the District Collector seeking for re-classification and on receipt of the same, the District Collector, Chengalpattu District, shall act upon the same in consultation with the Commissioner of Land Administration and pass orders as expeditiously as possible. 2/4
This writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
