Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to instruct all the Station House Officers of the Police Stations to fix a Reception Board for receiving complaints and issue CSR (Community Service Register) upon receipt of every police complaint received in Police Stations, without fail, forthwith. ORDER
(Order of the court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.Secular S.Arunkumar, learned counsel for the petitioner; Mr.Karthik Jagannath, learned Government Advocate for the first respondent; and Mr.Muniyapparaj, learned Addl. Public Prosecutor, assisted by Mr.Sylvester John for
respondents 2 to 4.
2. The petition is filed seeking directions against the first respondent to instruct all the Station House Officers to fix a reception board for receiving complaints and issuing CSR (Community Service Register) upon receipt of every police complaint in the police station.
3. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submits that, in fact, now there is a Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) Portal, where the entire information is placed. It is further submitted that as far as the complaint of the petitioner is concerned, which was forwarded by the National Human Rights Commission, the crime is registered in Crime No.324 of 2022 under Sections 294(b), 323 and 324 of the Indian Penal Code.
4. It appears that a system is in place. The petitioner may make himself aware of the same.
The writ petition is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
