..Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st and 2nd respondents to consider the representation dated 03.06.2021 made by the petitioner to grant permission to multiple pharmaceutical companies to manufacture the 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose (2DG) oral powder with affordable cost for the patients affected by Covid-19 infection.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) The petitioner seeks a direction on respondents 1 and 2 to consider the petitioner's representation of June 3, 2021 for https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

multiple pharmaceutical companies to manufacture the 2DG oral powder which is perceived to be effective for patients attacked by Covid-19.

2. The Union is represented. The Union refers to its letter of June 18, 2021 addressed to the petitioner by which it has informed the petitioner that the Defence Research and Development Organisation of the Ministry of Defence had invited interest from pharmaceutical industries in early June, 2021 and many pharmaceutical companies had responded for manufacturing the drug. It is submitted by the Union that large-scale manufacture has begun.

3. In the light of such submission and what appears from the relevant letter of June 18, 2021, there is no need for any further order since the representation has been considered and large-scale production of 2DG may already have been commenced. W.P.No.13214 of 2021 is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
