O R D E R
The present petition has been filed to direct the respondent to register the case based on the complaint of the petitioner dated 10.07.2014.
2. The petitioner is the only daughter of one George Thomas and she was given in marriage to one K.S.Antony Rajesh on 21.01.2013. The betrothal function was conducted at Hotel Savera International and the marriage was conducted at St.Louis Church, Adyar as per the Christian rituals. Subsequent to the marriage, there was a dowry harassment. Hence, she lodged a complaint to the respondent police on 10.07.2014. The said complaint was sent to the District Social Welfare Officer, Thiruvallur and after enquiry, the Social Welfare Officer sent a report stating that dowry related dispute exists between the couple . Though the said report was sent on 09.01.2015, till date no action was taken by the respondent. Hence, the petitioner came forward to file this petition. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent.
4. Today when the matter is taken up for consideration, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the petitioner is not cooperating for the enquiry and hence, a direction may be given to the petitioner to cooperate with the enquiry.
5. Considering the submissions made on either side, this Court is of the opinion that it is appropriate to direct the respondent to conduct an enquiry on the complaint dated 10.07.2014 given by the petitioner, if enquiry was not conducted so far and upon enquiry, if materials are gathered indicating commission of any cognizable offence, the respondent is directed to proceed further in accordance with law, as early as possible. The petitioner is directed to cooperate with the enquiry.
6. This criminal original petition is disposed of accordingly.
