Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to convene the permanent Medical Board immediately to examine the petitioner's case for medical termination of pregnancy expeditiously.

This matter is taken up for hearing through Video Conferencing mode.

2. This writ petition is filed seeking for mandamus directing the 1st respondent to convene the permanent Medical Board immediately to examine the petitioner's case for medical termination of pregnancy.

3. When the matter was taken up for hearing on 21.08.2020, this Court directed the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital to constitute a Board to examine the petitioner consisting of two Doctors specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics to examine the petitioner on 25.08.2020

4. Today, the matter is taken up for further hearing.

5. The learned Special Government Pleader, based on instructions, submitted that the Board was constituted and after examination, the Board has given permission for termination of pregnancy of the petitioner and accordingly, it was carried out on 26.08.2020. He further stated that since the petitioner is the victim of rape and a criminal case has already been filed, the samples collected are handed over to the police.

6. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that in view of the statement made by the learned Special Government Pleader, this Writ Petition may be closed by recording the said statement.

7. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is closed, by recording the above statement made by the learned Special Government Pleader. No costs.
