O R D E R

This petition has been filed to quash the proceedings in S.C.No.174 of 2024 on the file of the Assistant Sessions Court, Alandur, on the ground of compromise.

2. Heard both sides and perused the materials placed before this Court.

3. It is brought to the notice of this Court by the learned Government Advocate (crl.side) that the petitioner is alleged to have committed an offence affecting public interest, namely, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident, which resulted in the second respondent sustaining a fracture.

4. Considering the nature of the offence, this Court is not inclined to quash the proceedings merely on the basis of a compromise between the parties. However, when this Court was about to dismiss this petition

on merits, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner sought permission of this Court to withdraw this petition. He has also made an endorsement to that effect in the Court bundle today.

5. In view of the endorsement made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed as withdrawn. The Trial Court is directed to proceed with the trial in S.C.No.174 of 2024 and complete the same within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
