Mr.A.Vinothraj, Standing counsel for R1 and R2 COMMON ORDER The writ petitions in W.P.Nos.21458 and 21461 of 2026 are filed for the following relief:

"directing the respondents to consider the petitioners representation dated 07.02.2026 and 18.02.2026 respectively to pay interest @ 10% per annum for the belated payment of Leave Salary, Provident Fund, Gratuity from the date of retirement until realization.".

2. The writ petition in W.P.No.21464 of 2026 is filed for the following relief:

"directing the respondents to consider the petitioners representation dated 22.01.2026 to pay interest @ 10% per annum for the belated payment of Provident Fund, Gratuity and Commutation from the date of retirement until realization.".

3. The brief facts which has culminated in the filing of these writ petitions are set out below:

3.1. It is the case of the petitioners that they were retired employees of the respondent Corporation who worked as "SPG Driver, SPG Office Assistant and SPG Conductor" respectively. The respondents settled the petitioners terminal benefits belatedly. Therefore, the respondents are legally bound to pay interest to the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners made a representation dated 07.02.2026, 18.02.2026 and 22.01.2026 to the respondents to pay the interest at the rate of 10% p.a., for the belated payment of the petitioners terminal benefits. Since there is no response, the petitioners are before this Court.

4. Heard the learned Counsel on either side and perused the materials available on records.

5. Admittedly, the terminal benefits has been paid belatedly for no fault of the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners are entitled to interest on the same. The Writ petitions in W.P.Nos.21458, 21461 and 21464 of 2026 are disposed of with a direction to the respondents to disburse 6% interest for belated payment of Leave Salary, Provident Fund, Gratuity and Commutation from the date of retirement till the date of realization within a period of one (1) month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
