Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the third respondent to give the new electricity service connection (domestic) to the petitioner's resident situated at Nos.39 & 40, Mannargudi Street, Chidambaram - 608 001, Cuddalore District without insisting the parent documents namely Title Deeds, Property Tax Receipt, Ownership Title, etc., on the basis of the representation dated 27.01.2022 within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

ORDER
Mr.L.Jai Venkatesh, learned Standing Counsel takes notice on behalf of the respondents.
2. After hearing the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel for the respondent, this writ petition is being disposed at the time of admission. It is submitted that the petitioner is unnecessarily bearing heavy expenses for domestic usage as the petitioner is paying electricity charges at commercial rate, since the petitioner is using the same electricity connection for commercial purpose also. It is further submitted that the petitioner sent a representation dated 27.01.2022 to give a separate domestic electricity connection to the respondents. However, it has not been considered.

Opposing the prayer, learned standing counsel for the respondent would submit that if online application of the petitioner together with the necessary documents is filed, the petitioner's application for separate domestic electricity connection will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the documents stands in the petitioner's father name Alavandar, who has since deceased and the petitioner himself is aged about 68 years.
5. I have considered the arguments advanced by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel for the respondents.
6. Considering the fact that the petitioner is aged about 68 years and also considering the fact that the petitioner may have other documents to substantiate that the petitioner is entitled for separate electricity connection in his name, I am inclined to dispose this Writ Petition by directing the petitioner to file appropriate application through online together with necessary documents and fees, before the respondents.
7. If such application is filed together with necessary information/documents, the same shall be considered and disposed as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of four weeks from the date of such application filed by the petitioner, subject to the said application accompanying necessary documents and fees required as per the rules. Even if the petitioner has no original documents to substantiate that the property is assessed to tax in his name, collateral evidence
showing payment of tax for the property may be considered which was assessed in the petitioner's father name Alavandar.
8. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the above observations. No costs.
