ORDER

The present Writ Petition is filed to direct the respondent to immediately take the petitioner to a super specialty hospital, either private or government (Omandurar), for comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment as per necessity.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents and perused the materials placed before this Court.

3. Though the petitioner has sought for a direction to the respondent to extend the treatment to him in a super speciality hospital or private hospitals for treatment of his medial ailment, the report given to us by the Jail Authorities evidences that all the facilities for extending the medical treatment are available at the Government Stanley Hospital, Chennai.

4. Hence, we are of the view that the Jail Authorities can escort the petitioner for the necessary treatment at the Government Stanley Hospital, Chennai. Accordingly, there shall be a direction to the respondent/ Superintendent of Prison, to extend the necessary medical treatment to the petitioner at the Government Stanley Hospital, Chennai, for a period of one week commencing from the date of admission.
