Respondent PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pay the petitioner interest at the rate of 18% per annum, for the period of delay from 01.05.2023 to 11.02.2025, in paying the amounts paid towards his terminal benefits namely EPF Employee's Contribution, Gratuity and Encashment of Leaves / Already surrendered Earned Leaves within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court and without affecting his right to claim balance amounts towards those benefits. O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus, seeking a direction against the respondent to pay the petitioner interest at the rate of 18% per annum, for the period of delay from 01.05.2023 to 11.02.2025, in paying the amounts paid towards his terminal benefits namely EPF Employee's Contribution, Gratuity and Encashment of Leaves / already surrendered Earned Leaves. 2.In the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition, it is stated that the petitioner joined the respondent Transport Corporation on 21.08.1998 as Conductor and retired from service upon attaining the age of superannuation on 30.04.2023. The petitioner was serving as Special Grade Conductor. According to the petitioner, the terminal benefits were disbursed with a delay and he now seeks interest for the delayed period. 3.A direction is therefore issued to the respondent to examine the petitioner's Service Register and verify the date when the amount was disbursed. If it is found that the amount was disbursed with 2/4

delay, interest at the rate of 6% per annum shall be granted from the date of retirement until the actual date of disbursement. The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4.With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
