ORDER
The prayer in this Criminal Original Petition is to direct the learned XIII Additional Special Judge for CBI Cases, Chennai to dispose of C.C.No.21 of 2017 pending trial as expeditiously as possible.
2. The learned Counsel for the petitioner/accused would submit that the petitioner/accused is also facing consequential proceedings under the Money Laundering Act and is therefore in a predicament on account of the pendency of the case.
3. Per contra, M/s.G.Vrinda, the learned Counsel for the respondent would submit that there are 59 witnesses in this case. The trial is underway. So far, P.W.1 to P.W.5 have been examined. Since there is no regular Judge for the Court below, the same has to be taken into account by this Court.
4. Considering the facts submitted by the learned Counsel for the 3/7
respondent that another 54 witnesses have to be examined and at present, there is no regular Judge for the Court below and case being of the year 2017, I am of the view that the Trial Court can be directed to dispose of the above case as expeditiously as possible, in any event, not later than one year from the date of receipt of a web-copy of the order.
5. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of. 16.06.2025 : no grs To
