ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondent to issue passport in favour of the petitioner based on his representation dated 22.11.2021.

2. The petitioner's passport application was kept pending on the ground that the customs department has raised objections.

3. Heard Mr.R.Rajan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mrs.A.Anuradha, learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent.

4. It is brought to the notice of this Court by the learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent that the customs department has now informed the respondent that they have no objection, if the respondent considers the petitioner's passport application on merits and in accordance with law. Since the customs department has not raised any

objection, there is no prohibition for the respondent to consider the petitioner's passport application .

5. After recording the submissions made by the learned Central Government Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent, this Court directs the respondent to pass final orders on the petitioner's passport application based on his representation dated 22.11.2021 within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.

6. With the aforesaid direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
