Writ Petition(Crl.) filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India praying to issue a WRIT OF MANDAMUS directing the 1st respondent police herein to take legal action against the individuals repeatedly causing disturbances and violating official orders and enforce and protect our customary right to adorn the second garland in Sri Papathi Amman temple upon petitioner Representation dated 04.02.2026 and to dispose the same by the 1st respondent police accordingly within a time frame limit as fixed by this court.

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for direction to the 1st respondent police to take legal action against the individuals repeatedly causing disturbances and violating official orders and to enforce and protect customary right to adorn the second garland in Sri Papathi Amman temple upon petitioner Representation dated 04.02.2026 and to dispose the same by the 1st respondent police. 2.

On instruction, the learned Counsel for Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) appearing for the first respondent submitted that on the complaint lodged by the petitioner, he was issued CSR.No.64 of 2026 and after conducting enquiry by issuing summon to the petitioner and the second respondent, who arrived at amicable settlement to conduct festival in Sri Papathi Amman temple, on assurance, the complaint was closed. That apart, the festival was conducted in a peaceful manner by both the parties.

The learned counsel for the second respondent submits that the festival was conducted with the aid of police. However, the petitioner is asking for first honour during festival.

Recording the above submissions, this writ petition is closed. However, if any right claimed by the petitioner, the petitioner ought to have approached civil court for appropriate relief over the temple festival. There shall be no order as to costs.
