ORDER

The petitioner has come to this Court seeking a writ of mandamus, directing the first respondent to dispose of the appeal filed by him on 6.5.2017.

2. The petitioner, aggrieved by the order dated 23.3.2017 imposing punishment of stoppage of increment for five years permanently (WC), has preferred an appeal before the first respondent/appellate authority on 6.5.2017 within the statutory period of sixty days as per Rules. As the appeal has not been disposed of till date, the petitioner has come to this Court on the ground that he is put to grave prejudice in view of the pendency of the statutory appeal.

3. Mr.P.Paramasivadoss, learned standing counsel for the respondents, agreeing to the submission that the appeal has been filed within a period of sixty days as per Rules, also sought time to dispose of the pending appeal filed by the petitioner on merits.

4. In view of the same, the first respondent is hereby directed to consider the pending appeal of the petitioner on merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Needless to mention that this Court has not expressed any opinion with regard to the merits of the matter. Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
