O R D E R

The petitioner herein was arrested by the respondent police on 25.04.2024 for the alleged offence under Sections 8(c), 22(c) & 29(1) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and remaded to the judicial custody, in Crime No.112 of 2024, registered on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail. 1/4

2. The case of the prosecution is that the respondent police found the accused persons in illegal possession of 1920 Nitrovet tablets. Hence, the case.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the said contraband was not seized from his possession. At the time of seizure, the petitioner was in a Central Prison, Chennai.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police submits that the petitioner conspired with other accused for transporting and selling psychotropic substances of commercial quantity. He further submitted that the petitioner is involved in 22 previous cases, out of which, 2 cases are similar in nature and have the habit of operating within the prison through his associates.

5. Considering the quantum of contraband seized and the antecedents of the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Hence, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
