O R D E R

The petitioner has filed this Writ petition seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent to renew the petitioner's passport based on her Application comprised in File No.:CB 1074551 404 922 dated 02.09.2022.

2. Mr.M.Sathyan, learned counsel takes notice for the respondent. In view of the consent expressed by the Learned counsel appearing on either side, this petition is taken up for final disposal.

3. The case of the petitioner is that she obtained a passport bearing No.J8583919 on 14.09.2012 and the same got expired on 13.09.2022. Therefore, the petitioner applied for renewal of her passport, vide application in File No.:CB 1074551 404 922 dated 02.09.2022. However, the petitioner's application was kept on hold on the basis of the objection/unwillingness made by the Punjab National Bank. Though the petitioner submitted a sworn affidavit dated 20.01.2023 in the manner required by the respondent and though the petitioner sent a lawyer notice 2/5

dated 30.03.2023, till date, no orders have been passed on the petitioner's application dated 02.09.2022. Hence, this Writ petition.

4. Though very many grounds have been raised, learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that, it would suffice, if this Court issues direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 02.09.2022 and renew the petitioner's passport as expeditiously as possible.

5. Learned counsel appearing for the respondent has no serious objection for the said order being passed.

Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 02.09.2022 on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner and aggrieved persons, if any.

7. Accordingly, this Writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. 27.04.2023 3/5
