By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.
2.The petitioner was initially appointed as Warder Grade II in Central Prison, Cuddalore vide proceedings dated 28.08.1983 and joined duty on 05.09.1983. The petitioner was included in the panel for promotion as Warder Grade I by the first respondent in the year 2002 and vide proceedings dated 13.02.2009, he was promoted as Warder Grade I by the second respondent. The petitioner has also appeared for the S.S.L.C. examination and on 17.01.2014, he was promoted as Chief Head Warder.
3.The grievance expressed by the petitioner is that though he passed S.S.L.C. Examination, he was not given promotion as Assistant Jailor and in this regard, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 20.02.2015 through proper channel, stating among other things that he is having only 23 months of service left over before superannuation and prays for appropriate orders and since it has not been given disposal, came forward to file the present writ petition. 4.Heard the submissions of Mr.K.Govindaraj, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.V.Subbiah, learned Special Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of respondents. 5.
Though the petitioner prayed for a larger relief, this Court, in the light of the above facts and circumstances, directs the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 20.02.2015 in accordance with law and pass orders, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioner. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
