Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 05.02.2023 to restore the free electricity connection bearing No.133, situated in Survey No.417 at Ramalai, Gudiyattem, Vellore District forthwith.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 05.02.2023 to restore the free electricity connection bearing No.133 to his agricultural land situated in Survey No.417 at Ramalai, Gudiyattem, Vellore District.

2. Mr.S.Madusudhanan, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the respondents.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that he is the owner of the agricultural land in Survey No.417 at Ramalai, Gudiyattem, Vellore District,

wherein the pump set is used for irrigation purposes. The 2nd respondent has provided the electricity service connection for using the pump set irrigation which was disconnected due to non-payment of arrears of Rs.750/- by the erstwhile owner of the property. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation dated 05.02.2023 informing the payment of arrears made by the petitioner and sought for restoration of electricity service connection to his lands. However, till date, the said representation has not been considered by the respondents. Hence, the petitioner has come up with this Writ Petition.

Though very many grounds have been raised, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that it would suffice if this Court issues a direction to the respondent herein to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 05.02.2023 and pass appropriate orders on the same on merits within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

6. In view of the limited relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court without going into the merits of the case, directs the 3rd respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 05.02.2023 and pass seeking restoration of electricity service connection and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs. 28.04.2023 Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes / No NHS
