Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to follow the rotation procedure for reservation of wards in Alanthurai Town Panchayat in accordance with Article 243T of the Constitution of India and in accordance with the Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Third Grade Municipalities and Municipal and Corporation Councils (Delimitations of Wards or Divisions and Reservations) Rules, 1996 for the Urban Local Body Elections, 2016 and consequently, directing the respondents to notify ward No.15 of Alanthurai Town Panchayat as general ward.

The petitioner has come out with the present Writ Petition for a direction to the respondents to follow the rotation procedure for reservation of wards in Alanthurai Town Panchayat in accordance with Article 243T of the Constitution of India and in accordance with the 2/4
Tamil Nadu Town Panchayats, Third Grade Municipalities and Municipal and Corporation Councils (Delimitations of Wards or Divisions and Reservations) Rules, 1996 for the Urban Local Body Elections, 2016 and consequently, directing the respondents to notify ward No.15 of Alanthurai Town Panchayat as general ward.
2. Today, when this matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the relief sought for in the Writ Petition has become infructuous and hence, nothing survives for adjudication.
