This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to refer the matter for enhancement of compensation under Section 20 of the Tamil Nadu Highways Act, 2001.

2. Heard Mr.Anupam Raghuraman, learned counsel for petitioner and Mr.A.Selvendran, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for respondents.

3. The petitioner is aggrieved by the award No.23/2023 dated 11.09.2023 and has sought for reference under Section 20 of the Tamil Nadu Highways Act, 2001. A representation has been made in this regard on 16.10.2024. Thereafter, the petitioner received a communication made by the District Collector to the Special District Revenue Officer to act upon the representation made by the petitioner. Since there was no response, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

4. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and the materials placed before this Court, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to refer the matter under Section 20 of the Tamil Nadu Highways Act, 2001, based on the representation made by the petitioner on 22.10.2024 within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
