Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issue of a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to take necessary steps to keep the toilets in the Court premises throughout Tamil Nadu Open and in proper working condition, with cleaning staff and to maintain proper clean and hygienic toilets in the court premises and also to check the maintenance of the toilets at the court premises on regular intervals in order to provide Clean and hygienic Toilets to the Judicial Members, Advocates, Court Staff, Litigants and General Public attending the Court.

O R D E R
(The Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble The Chief Justice) A comprehensive report has been filed by the Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority, Chennai in pursuance to our last order setting out the adequacies and inadequacies in respect of various Districts.
2. Affidavit filed by the third respondent/Public Works Department states that necessary inspections have been carried out under the supervision of the Principal District Judges by the Public Works Department in pursuance whereto, the Districtwise consolidated report has been submitted regarding the requirement of toilets along with the affidavit.
3. We find that there is considerable progress to be made on account of the report of the third respondent himself. Not only that, it is not merely a question of construction of toilets, but their continued maintenance. A comprehensive report submitted by the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority, Chennai should form the basis for completing all the activities.
4.We grant three months' time to the Public Works Department to show substantive progress. The Public Works Department shall submit its report to the Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority, Chennai as to what progress has been made and in how much time the balance work would be completed, so that the schedules are adhered to. The matter would be monitored by the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority and a report be submitted to this Court on the next date as to what extent, compliance has taken place and when complete implementation would be over.
5.We are of the view that no further directions are required in the writ petition except to monitor the progress, as according to the Public Works Department, in total, about six months' time is required to complete the task. We do believe that such an endeavour would be in furtherance of ''Swach Bharat'' mission for providing toilet facilities.
6. The writ petition accordingly stands disposed of, leaving the parties to bear their own costs.
