ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent Police not to harass the petitioner by considering his representation dated 28.03.2026.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the respondent Police, under the guise of enquiry, have been calling the petitioner at odd hours and subjecting her to harassment.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that a complaint was lodged by one Gopalakrishnan of AGM Finance against the petitioner, stating that the petitioner received a sum of Rs.7,00,000/- on the promise of redeeming and re-pledging jewels in the Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank. However, after redemption and re-pledge, the amount of Rs.7,00,000/- was not returned to the defacto complainant.

4. Though the petitioner claims that a sum of Rs.2,40,000/- has been repaid, the learned counsel for the defacto complainant strongly opposed the same, stating that no amount has been paid by the petitioner.

5. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the petitioner had appeared before the respondent and stated that she would hold talks with

the complainant, namely Gopalakrishnan, and settle the issue, however, she filed the present petition.

6. Considering the facts and submissions made by the learned counsels on either side, this Court finds no material to substantiate the allegation of harassment. The petitioner is directed to cooperate with the enquiry. If the respondent Police, upon enquiry, finds any cognizable offence against the petitioner, they are at liberty to proceed in accordance with law.
