Today, the matter is listed under the caption 'for reporting compliance'. 2.The writ petition was disposed of with a direction to the respondent police to make a fresh representation to the respondent police and the respondent police was directed to act upon the same in line with the proceedings of RDO dated 21.4.2024. 3.When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned Government Advocate on behalf of the respondent produced the notice that was sent to the petitioner. It is seen from this notice, the petitioner had given a fresh representation on 17.5.2024. In that representation, the petitioner had requested for police protection from 6.6.2024 to 16.7.2024. The respondent police have indicated seven days where they will be able to provide with police protection i.e., on 6.6.2024, 28.6.2024, 29.6.2024, 30.6.2024, 1.7.2024, 2.7.

2024 and 16.7.2024. The respondent police have asked for timings during which the pooja is going to be done for more clarity. These particulars are yet to be furnished by the petitioner. 4.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the festival is now rescheduled from 20.6.2024 to 2.8.2024 and the petitioner requires police protection during this entire period.

KP 5.The learned Government Advocate submitted that the police protection can only be granted for limited period and the police is not in a position to provide for protection for the entire period as sought for by the petitioner. 6.In the considered view of this Court, the festival that is going to be conducted by the petitioner as the dharmakarta of the temple is going to be held from 20.6.2024 up to 2.8.2024. It is not possible for a battalion of a police to be present during this entire period of festival. In view of the same, there shall be a direction to the petitioner to make a fresh representation to the respondent police and seek for police protection whenever required. While doing so, the petitioner shall indicate the timing during which the police protection is required. 7.

On receipt of the representation, it is left open to the respondent police to take a decision and extend police protection whenever it is required to ensure that no law and order problem is created and no disturbance is created to the general public. 8.This contempt petition is disposed in the above terms. 07.06.2024 KP Contempt Petition No.1441 of 2024 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.
