O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation made by the petitioner on 08.03.2023 wherein the petitioner has sought for permission to run a petty shop opposite to Kamacthi General Hospital, Pallikaranai.

2. Heard Mr.A.Manoj Kumar, learned counsel for petitioner and Mrs.P.T.Ramadevi, learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondents.

3. In the considered view of this Court, the permission sought for by the petitioner cannot be granted by the Corporation of Chennai after coming into force of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood Regulation) Act, 2014. It was only the Town Vending Committee, which has been vested with the power to grant such a permission. The Town Vending Committee formed by the State Government was set aside by the First Bench of this Court and already steps have been taken for formation of new Committee. As and when the committee is formed, it is left open to the peititoner to make a representation to the committee and seek for permission.

This Writ Petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
