O R D E R

Admit. Mr. V.Subbiah, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the first respondent and Mr.R.Ravichandran, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for respondents 2 and 3. By consent of the learned counsel for both sides, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

The petitioner would state that, while he was working as Bill Collector in the services of the third respondent, he was foisted with disciplinary proceedings, in the form of the charge memo, dated 30.10.2012, under Section 17-B of the Tamil Nadu Civil Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, alleging that on account of the acts committed by the petitioner, there was a loss to the local body to the tune of Rs.12,82,262/-. The petitioner has submitted his written statement / defence. The grievance expressed by him is that, though he is ready and willing for the earlier conclusion of the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

departmental proceedings, nothing had happened so far and in this regard, he has submitted a representation, dated 09.07.2015. Since no orders have been passed, the petitioner has came forward to file this writ petition.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner was also placed under suspension on 04.06.2014 and hence, prays for appropriate direction, directing the first respondent to conclude the departmental proceedings at an early date.

4. This Court heard the submissions of Mr.M.V.Muralidaran, learned counsel for the petitioner, Mr. V.Subbiah, learned Special Government Pleader, for the first respondent and Mr. R.Ravichandran, learned Additional Government Pleader, for respondents 2 and 3.

5. Though the petitioner prayed for a larger relief, this Court, without going into the merits of the claim projected by the petitioner and in the light of the above facts and circumstances, directs the first respondent to conclude the disciplinary proceedings, pursuant to the charge memo, dated 30.10.2012, in accordance with law, and pass final orders, within a period of ten weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, and communicate the decision taken to the petitioner.
