This Court, while admitting the writ petition, passed an interim order on 30.04.2021 directing the petitioner to pay 50% of the total outstanding amount to the Electricity Board and on such payment, the Electricity Board was directed to restore the service connection. This amount was directed to be paid and electricity connection was directed to be restored without prejudice to the contentions of either side. However, since the petitioner was facing financial constraints, wanted to pay 50% of the total outstanding amount by way of instalments and hence the present petition has been filed before this Court, seeking for payment of the amount in ten equal monthly instalments. No counter has been filed in the main writ petition till date.
2. Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and also the grievance expressed by the petitioner, this Court deems it fit to dispose of this petition with the following interim directions. (a) The petitioner is directed to pay 50% of the total outstanding amount to the Electricity Board in five equal monthly instalments. (b) The first instalment shall be paid immediately and on payment of the same, the service connection shall be restored by the respondents. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis/

KST (c) The petitioner shall pay the remaining four instalments on or before 5th of every month starting from September 2021 onwards, and (d) If the petitioner fails to comply with any one of the conditions imposed by this Court, the interim directions issued by this Court will stand automatically vacated and it will be left open to the respondents to proceed further in accordance with law without any further reference to this Court.
3. It is made clear that this interim order is passed without prejudice to the rights and contentions of either side and only as an interim measure.
