ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed for the following reliefs:- "directing the Respondent to consider and dispose of the representation of the petitioner dated 21.01.2026 within limited time frame, regarding consideration of this candidature with registration No.18005002285 overall Rank 317 -Communal Rank -MBC 102 for Selection and appointment as Assistant Engineer (Civil) (Non Interview Posts) against Notification No.09/2024 dated 26.07.2024 issued by the Respondent against the available vacancies in various Departments of Government and Government undertaking."
Brief Facts:-
2. The petitioner who belongs to the MBC community had applied for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) - Non-Interview Post pursuant to Notification No. 09/2024 dated 26.07.2024 issued by the respondent/TNPSC. The petitioner's Registration No. is 18005002285. He appeared for the written examinations held on 21.10.2024 and 26.10.2024 and secured Rank 317.
3. The respondent subsequently published the list of provisionally selected candidates and allotted them to various Departments and Government Undertakings. However, the petitioner's Registration Number was not included in the said selection list.
4. The petitioner would submit that several candidates who were allotted to various Departments either did not join duty or resigned after joining. To ascertain the vacancy position, the petitioner had sought information from various Departments under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The replies received from the various Departments have disclosed approximately 35 vacancies. Responses from certain Departments are still awaited

In view of the above vacancies, the petitioner had submitted a representation dated 21.01.2026 to the respondent, requesting consideration of his candidature for appointment against the vacancies arising due to non-joining and resignations of selected candidates in the Departments covered under Notification No. 09/2024. However, the same has not been considered to date. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
6. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records.
7. Considering the limited relief claimed by the petitioner and taking note of the fact that the petitioner's representation dated 21.01.2026 has not been considered to date, the Writ Petition is allowed. The respondent is directed to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's representation dated 21.01.2026 on
merits and in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
