This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to register the sale deed dated 19.03.2025 executed by the petitioners in favour of one Rajalakshmi.
2. By consent of learned counsel on both sides, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. The grievance of the petitioners is that the property in question is an ancestral property and the same has been inherited by the petitioners herein. On 19.03.2025, the petitioners have executed a sale deed in favour of one Rajalakshmi measuring an extent of 0.10 1⁄2 cents of land situated in Bhoothamoor Village, Viruddhachalam Taluk, Cuddalore District comprised in Survey No.46/9. It is submitted by petitioners that the sale deed is duly signed and witnessed. When the sale deed was presented for registration, the fourth respondent refused to register the sale deed without issuing refusal slip nor indicating the reason as to why the sale deed has not been registered.

Learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents would submit that petitioners may re-present the document, namely, sale deed and on such re-presentation, the sale deed would be registered, if it is otherwise in order. If for any reason, registration is refused, a check slip would be issued after assigning reason, which was agreed to by the learned counsel for petitioners.
5. In view thereof, this Writ Petition stands disposed of with the direction to the petitioners to re-present the documents / sale deed to the respondents within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On such re-presentation, the concerned respondent shall register the sale deed in favour of one Rajalakshmi within a period of one week thereafter, if it is otherwise in order. If for any reason, the registering authority refuses to register the sale deed, the same would be done by issuing a refusal slip assigning reason.
