Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issue of Writ of Mandamus to direct the 1st respondent to initiate appropriate proceedings against the accused persons in Crime No.300 of 2015 to 306 to 2014 on the file of the Inspector of Police, Ambur Town Police Station under the relevant provisions of the Tamil Nadu Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992, by assessing the damage to the private and public properties and pay compensations to all the victims who were affected therein based on the petitioner's representation dated 20.07.2015 to the respondents. O R D E R
(Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble Chief Justice) An incident is stated to have occurred on 27.06.2015, which caused loss to public property. In this Public Interest Litigation, the petitioner, a political activist, seeks a prayer that the competent authority must take action under the Tamil Nadu Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1992, by assessing the damage to the private and public properties and pay compensation to the victims, who are affected. The petitioner, in this behalf, has made a representation on 20.07.2015.
2.Learned Government Pleader, on instructions, states that steps have been taken to assess the extent of damages and the process of recovery will be initiated within a maximum period of eight (8) weeks from today, after carrying out necessary preliminary exercise. The said statement is taken on record.
