W.M.P.Nos.19450 of 2016 and W.M.P.Nos.7951 and 7952 of 2017 in W.P.No.22768 of 2016 M.M.SUNDRESH, J Against the dismissal of the approval petition, the present writ petition has been filed.

2.Learned counsel appearing for the second respondent/workman would submit that a sum of Rs.3,92,000/- as backwages is liable to be paid by the writ petitioner apart from payment of last drawn wages as per Section 17B of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

3.Considering the above, there shall be an order of interim stay on condition that the writ petitioner pays a sum of Rs.1,50,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand only) within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The backwages payable being part of 17B wages will have to be paid by quantifying the same from the date of filing the writ petition till the month of May, 2017, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Thereafter, the last drawn wages will have to be paid on or before 15th of every month starting from June, 2017.

mmi 4.Subject to the above, interim stay granted is made absolute. Consequently, W.M.P.No.19450 of 2016 stands allowed and W.M.P.Nos.7951 and 7952 of 2017 stand disposed of.
