This Writ Petition is filed to issue Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to order police protection for the Poochattu Pongal festival to be held from 06.05.2024 to 08.05.2024 in the Arulmigu Shree Mahakaliyamman Temple situated at Mamabadi village, Puliaympatti, Dharapuram Taluk, Tiruppur District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 23.04.2024.

The Learned Counsel for the petitioner states that the petitioner gave a representation on 23.04.2024 seeking police protection for the Temple festival, but so far, the respondent police has not passed any order. According to the petitioner, the elected President of the said village and the villagers have decided to celebrate the Poochattu Pongal festival. The invitation for the Temple festival indicates that on 07.05.2024 evening from 7.00 p.m to 9.00 p.m., the organizer will indeed to conduct folk dance and cultural program.
3. The Learned Governm ent Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the 3rd respondent submitted that due to the election code of conduct and other law and order issues, the request to grant permission sought by the petitioner to Page No.2/5
conduct cultural program for the Temple festival was denied and proceedings was passed on 27.04.2024.
4. The Learned Counsel for the petitioner states that the organizer will not conduct any cultural program during the festival days and they are satisfied if police gives adequate protection for the peaceful conduct of the Temple festival.

In the light of the above undertaking given by the Learned Counsel for the petitioner, it is suffice to dispose of the Writ Petition directing the petitioner and other organizers of the Temple festival to make a fresh representation to the respondent police seeking police protection for the Temple festival with all the details of the organizer and the program. On such representation, the respondent police shall pass appropriate order within two days from the date of representation.
