ORDER

The petitioner is a student of the respondent-University and he has failed in one paper in the fourth semester examination conducted by the University. The result of the petitioner came to be known only on 13.07.2015. Seeking revaluation and consequent instant examination for the subject of International Law and Contemporary Issues, in which the petitioner has failed, the present writ petition has been filed.

2.Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that conducting of supplementary examination is mandatory and the

petitioner is eligible to write the supplementary examination since he has failed in one of the two papers in the fourth semester. 3.Learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that there is no statutory provision for revaluation or instant examination. He would further submit that the petitioner has not made any request for supplementary examination.

4.The object of the supplementary examination is to provide an opportunity to the students. Thus, it cannot be said that it is the student who has to make a request. If the petitioner is allowed to write the examination in December, 2015, along with others, then the very object would be defeated. What the petitioner seeks is an opportunity to write the examination. Law also provides for supplementary examination. Thus a direction is issued to the respondents to conduct supplementary examination to the petitioner for the subject of International Law and Contemporary Issues (PSI C

412) within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. After conducting the examination for the said paper, in which, the petitioner, would in all probability write, result should be published within a period of four weeks thereafter. 5.With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
