Writ Petition is filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to consider and dispose of the representation made by the petitioner on 20.03.2017 to the respondent within the time frame.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner.

3. The case of the petitioner is that he was working at Chennai Dock Labour Board as Mazdoor from 16.08.1954 to 21.02.1997. Thereafter, the petitioner voluntarily retired from service in the year 1977. After retirement, the petitioner has not received any family pension or ex-gratia pension from the respondent. The petitioner has applied for family pension in the year 2000. Since he has not received any pension, he has made a representation dated 20.03.2017 to the respondent requesting them to arrange payment of ex-gratia amount. Till date, no reply was received. Hence this writ petition.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the petitioner is claiming that he was appointed as Mazdoor at Chennai Dock Labour Board and he voluntarily retired from service in the year 1977. He has filed this writ petition for payment of ex-gratia pension after 22 years. Under such circumstance, this Court is not inclined to grant the relief sought for by the petitioner. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. No costs.
