Respondents Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 9 to take necessary steps to remove the encroachments made by the respondents 10 to 16 herein made on the Salaputhur lake situated in Survey No.260 of Nallanpillaipetral Village, Gingee Taluk, Villupuram District and to restore the said canal and Salaputhur lake enabling free flow and storage of water in the entire area of the lake as per the

revenue records by considering the petitioner's representation dated 11.05.2022 and enable the farmers to do agricultural activities by getting free flow of water from the Salaputhur lake. ORDER

(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) We have heard Mr.V.R.Appaswamee, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.C.Kathiravan, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents 1 to 9.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in the month of August, 2022, the encroachment was removed. However, subsequently, some encroachments have been made.

3. The respondent authorities shall survey the subject land within three months from today. In survey report, if encroachment is found, then, steps for removal of encroachment shall be taken in accordance with law.

4. The writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, W.M.P.No.15583 of 2022 is closed. (S.V.G., CJ.) (D.B.C., J.) 08.03.2024 Index :
