.. Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking for a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioners' representation dated 22.03.2016 and direct the respondents 1 and 2 to issue patta for all of them.

When the matter is taken up for hearing and for final disposal, there is no representation for the petitioner. The petitioners would claim that they are residing in the addresses given, for the past 40 years and are in occupation of two cents each and also put up huts and they belong to Scheduled Caste Community and eke their livelihood by doing coolie work and they belonged to the category of "below poverty line". The grievance expressed by the petitioners is that though their ancestors and as well as they continue to be in possession of the lands in question for more than three generations, they are yet to be issued with pattas. In this regard, the petitioners have also submitted a joint representation dated 22.03.

2016 to the respondents and since no orders have been passed, they are constrained to approach this Court by filing the present writ petition. Heard Mr.R.Vijayakumar, learned Additional Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents, would contend that along with the representation dated 22.03.2016, no documents are furnished by the petitioners to show that the forefathers of the petitioners as well as the petitioners continue to remain in possession for quite number of years and prays for dismissal of the writ petition.

This Court considering the limited scope of prayer sought for by the petitioners and without going into the merits of the same, directs the 2nd respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioners' representation dated 22.03.2016 on merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of ten weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and communicate the decision taken, to the petitioners.

The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
