Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to issue the permanent registration to the petitioner's vehicle bearing Temporary Registration No.TN-23TMP-13125 within a stipulated time fixed by this Hon'ble Court. Mr.M.Shahjahan, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondent.

2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondent. 3.The petitioner appears to have purchased a Toyota Innova Car in an auction conducted by the Financier on 26.08.2019. The vehicle in question had a Temporary Registration No.TN-23-TMP13125. It is submitted that though the petitioner is willing to pay all the charges, the vehicle has not been registered in the name of the petitioner. It is further submitted that the petitioner has sent a representation on 11.02.2022. However, it has not been evoked any response from the respondent. 4.The learned counsel for the respondent on the other hand would submit that the Additional Chief Secretary/Transport Commissioner, Chepauk, Chennai, in his communication to the

State Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre, Chennai - 600 090, dated 26.04.2021 bearing R.No.9117/HB2/2021, has stated that BS-IV vehicles for which the temporary registration was already done in Vahan version-1 but not permanent registration made, may be updated in Vahan version-4 so that those BS-IV vehicles will be allowed for permanent registration process. I find no impediment as per the above communication for re-registering the vehicle with a permanent registration number. 5.Be that as it may, the petitioner's representation dated 11.02.2022 deserves attention of the respondent. 6.Considering the above, I direct the respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law on the petitioner's representation 11.02.2022, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 7.The petitioner shall pay necessary charges and fees that are applicable for obtaining permanent registration number. 8.This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the above observations. No costs.
