O R D E R

The present criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent Police to register a case on the basis of the complaint given by the petitioner dated 29.09.2015 and investigate the same in accordance with law.

2. The petitioner and some others are the repatriates from Srilanka. They had established an Association in the name and style of "Repatriate Welfare Association Ambattur" and 176 repatriate families gave a representation before the District Collector and Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board for allotting houses. While so, one C.Selvarathinam, who was one of the member of the above said association collected a sum of Rs.50,000/- from the above 176 repatriate families for getting houses. When the petitioner questioned the same, he was threatened the petitioner with dire consequences. In this regard, the petitioner has given a complaint as against the said Selvarathinam and others. But, the said complaint was not registered so far. Hence, the petitioner has filed the present criminal original petition.

3. I have heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent.

4. In view of the submissions made on either side, this Court directs the respondent police to conduct enquiry on the complaint given by the pet dated 29.09.2015 and upon enquiry, if materials are gathered indicating commission of any cognizable offence, the respondent is directed to proceed further in accordance with law, as early as possible.

5. This criminal original petition is disposed of accordingly.
