ORDER

Apprehending threat from the respondents 8 to 15 herein, the petitioners have filed the present Criminal Original Petition seeking a direction for police protection.

2. It is the case of the petitioners that in connection with their love marriage, they apprehend threat from the respondents 8 to 15 who are the relatives of the second petitioner herein.

3. Today, when the matter was called, learned counsel for the respondents 8 to 14, by relying on the counter statement dated 19.12.2017 stated that they have no intention to cause threats to the petitioners and the relevant portion in the counter affidavit reads as follows:

"8. The respondents submit that since they are no more interested about the life of the petitioners and that they never ever either threatened or forcibly tried to separate them as alleged in the petition and there is no threat to the life and safety of the petitioners at the hands of these respondents."

4. The learned counsel for the 15th respondent also filed the counter statement stating that the 15th respondent was in no way connected with the petitioners herein and false allegations have been made against him.

4. In view of the categorical statement of the respondents 8 to 15, it would not be appropriate to direct the respondent police to extend protection to the petitioner. If at all, they still apprehend of threat from the respondents 8 to 15, the petitioners are at liberty to approach the concerned jurisdictional police seeking for necessary protection.

5. With the above terms, the Criminal Original Petition stands closed.
